WORKSHOPS & SPECIAL EVENTS Sunday 10/22 11:00am-12:30pm and 1:00-2:30pm Functional Yoga Therapy for Injuries, Conditions, & Chronic Pain at Breathe It can be challenging to approach yoga practice if you have injuries, conditions, chronic pain, or any other special considerations. This workshop will enable you study the yoga poses that can be therapeutic and beneficial for your condition in an intimate environment that is safe and supportive. Jackie draws on years of experience in using the yoga practice to rehabilitate a variety of conditions from spinal imbalances to arthritis, ligament or muscle tears, to tendinitis or bursitis. This workshop is designed to provide you with the knowledge you need to develop your own home yoga practice and/or integrate the alignment details and techniques you've learned into group classes. Take advantage of this opportunity to receive very specialized individual attention comparable to having a private lesson without paying standard private lesson rates. Saturday 10/28 11:30am-2:00pm Anatomy of the Hips & Pelvis in Yoga at Mindful Turtle Yoga Join Jackie for an exploration of the anatomy of the hips and pelvic girdle and how to apply this knowledge to your yoga practice and everyday movements to find greater mobility, stability, health, and ease. Learn how anterior and posterior tilting of the pelvis affects the alignment of your spine and how flexion, extension, and rotation of the hips affects the health of your feet, ankles, knees, and legs. This workshop will provide an opportunity to look at how your yoga practice can be used as physical therapy in the case of knee instability or injury, sacroiliac joint pain, conditions in the lumbar spine, and more, and will include techniques for increasing your flexibility and strength in the hips and pelvis.
