Mondays 6:00-7:00pm >subbing 7/22 only
A practice suitable to all levels, including standing, seated, and reclined postures usually held about 5 breaths each, with appropriate warm up and cool down before closing meditation, all with ample instruction. Poses will work on mobilization as well as stabilization, and instruction will be given on breathing throughout the practice.
Classes are held in the Barn at Avalon Park & Preserve, on Shep Jones Lane, Stony Brook, NY. From the Park House located at 200 Harbor Road, travel up Harbor Road until you reach your second left, a dirt road called Shep Jones Lane. Turn left onto Shep Jones Lane and proceed until you reach the wooden gates and the Barn on your left.
$15 cash or check may be paid for a single class or $60 for 5 classes (used within a 3 month period). You may pre-register, but you are not required to.

A well-rounded series of standing, seated, and reclined postures each held for about 5 breaths, including some weight-bearing in the hands (i.e. plank poses, upward facing dog, downward facing dog). All levels are welcome, ample instruction will be provided, though attendees will need to develop proficiency in transitioning from posture to posture fluidly on an inhale or an exhale, having cardiovascular and respiratory strengthening benefits, as well as muscular mobilization and stabilization.
Classes are held at Mindful Turtle Yoga & Wellness, 6 South Jersey Avenue, Setauket, NY. Entrance on the right side of the building.

Mysore Ashtanga Yoga
Mysore-style instruction is the traditional method for learning Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. It can best be understood as self-practice in a group setting. Practitioners will move through the set sequence of postures at their own pace and with their own breath, under the supervision of the teacher, receiving verbal comments and hands-on adjustments and assistance whenever needed. It is not necessary to know the sequence from memory, as the teacher will teach and remind practitioners, but over time students will learn the sequence. It is best to commit to this style of practice at least 3x weekly so as to integrate the sequence physically and mentally, but traditionally it is done 6x a week.

A nurturing, healing, and restorative experience for any one at any time! Restorative Yoga involves seated, supine, and prone postures held for 5-10 minutes each with the use of props to promote deeper relaxation and a meditative state. Long holds in asana (postures) allow us to access connective tissue (ligaments, tendons, and fascia), increasing circulation and promoting healing, while slow and gentle breathing helps to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing the body to move into “rest and digest” mode, influencing healthy digestion, respiration, heart rate, and more. This special workshop incorporates meditation and visualization techniques, as well as the use of essential oils and Himalayan singing bowls and chimes played by Vinny Posillico to calm, ground, and center.
A nurturing, supportive, and restorative environment during the childbearing time! This class is an opportunity to bond with your own body during pregnancy, with your baby, and with other women. A series of standing, seated, and reclined postures can be adapted for any stage of pregnancy and modified for any condition or symptom so as to calm, ground, strengthen, open, connect, and nurture.
