Restorative Yoga & Singing Bowl Sound Healing

Friday 3/31 6:30-8:00pm and Sunday 4/16 6:00-7:30pm at Mindful Turtle, 60 Route 25A, Setauket, NY

Join me for a nurturing, healing, and restorative experience for any body at any time! Restorative Yoga involves seated, supine, and prone postures held for 5-10 minutes each with the use of props to promote deeper relaxation and a meditative state. Long holds in asana (postures) allow us to access connective tissue (ligaments, tendons, and fascia), increasing circulation and promoting healing, while slow and gentle breathing helps to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing the body to move into “rest and digest” mode, influencing healthy digestion, respiration, heart rate, and more. This special workshop incorporates meditation and visualization techniques, as well as the use of essential oils and singing bowls and chimes played by Vinny Posillico to calm, ground, and center us.

$40

*Please note:
-All attendees must be registered in advance for the event under their own name. You cannot bring someone who is not on the list because there is a capacity.
-Refunds/credits cannot be offered for same-day cancellations or no-shows because it does not allow us the opportunity to offer the spot to someone else. At least 24 hours notice required for cancellations.

The Spirit of Yoga & Writing Series

New Dates TBA at Mindful Turtle, 60 Route 25A, Setauket, NY

"Don’t try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say.” —Barbara Kingsolver

Yoga is a path to connect with the anandamaya kosha, our blissful spirit. When we say we’re “inspired,” we are talking about operating “in spirit.” Creative writing is one of the avenues through which we can get in touch with that spirit and our true selves, allowing our joys and our sorrows, our confusion and our clarity, our fears and our wisdom, to pour forth from us to create something beautiful, and perhaps even inspiring to others.

Come join me in this 4-session yoga and writing workshop in which we will use the teachings of yoga as a guide for creative writing. I will provide different prompts each week to incorporate into your poetry. You do not need any pre-existing experience with yoga or with creative writing; all you need is an interest! You will be introduced to some yoga philosophy that is meant to provide a lens through which to view your writing and we will take some time sitting together exploring the creative process.

Sharing your writings will be optional.
